On Monday night, we went to a little restaurant called Tipianers (sp?) down the road from our hotel. It was an Italian food restaurant, but with a polynesian flair. I had the seafood lasagne and it was fantastic! On Tuesday, we had to check out of the hotel in Moorea by 11 AM. Rather than pay the higher rates in the hotel, we walked back down the road to the Tipianers. The main restaurant wasn't open in the daytime, but they had a smaller place on the beach. They had all sorts of great lunch fair. What intrigued me was the Special Burger. It was a cheeseburger with bacon and a fried egg. Yes, you read that right ... a fried egg. Well, I HAD to try that and it was danged good. Might have to do that sometimes at home too!! So, we relaxed in the restaurant, enjoyed our food and knocked back more Hinano. Eventually, our transport came and we were shuttled back to the ferry for the ride back to Papeete on the main island of Tahiti. We went back to the Sofitel and got a room a the few hours before we had to get to the airport for the flight to Sydney. The flight was a 2:10 AM and crossed the international date line. This means, I only saw about 3 1/2 to 4 hours of Wednesday, January 16th. Other than that ... it didn't exist.
We have picked up another traveler in the group. Brett Geddes didn't make the Tahiti portion of the trip. So, now we number 6 people and we have a total of 18 bags. Well, 19 if you count my backpack. It was rather comical to watch the cab driver load all the stuff wondering when the bags were going to end. Even at the Marriott, the guys grabbing the luggage were shocked at the number of bags. They had to run get yet another carrier.
So, here we are in Sydney Australia, resting up in the hotel and will soon be walking around and sight seeing. I think our first hike will be down to the Opera House. It is only a mile away!! We will be here until the afternoon of the 19th when we make our way to the boat to start the cruise!
